Dance Ministry is so much more than DANCE. There are so many lessons one can learn from serving others. As many of us know and have heard, True Worship is a lifestyle, not just a service, or a slow song, not just something we do at church or worship services, but it encompasses the way we live our lives daily. As we chatted with Tykecia Jones, it was evident she was a WORSHIPPER!
Tykecia started dancing at 5 years old. She started majorette dancing in the community and later joined the mi
me ministry at her local church which ignited her passion for ministry in movement. She is the Dance Leader at Anointed Praise Dance Ministry in Killeen Texas. The ministry was established 15 years ago. They seek to bring healing, deliverance, restoration, joy and encouragement through the illustration of dance. Anointed Praise Dance Ministry is in the process of participating and being more active in the community and out of the 4 walls of the church. As a ministry leader she desires seeing growth in the members and growth in the lives of those who she ministers to.
The lessons she has learned in ministry empowers us all! Tykecia’s biggest lesson learned was to finish what you start. The bible says it this way:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. -Hebrews 12:1-2
Tykecia told the story this way. When we were young and ministering, we could never finish a dance, we would cry or catch the Holy Ghost and could never finish. The Pastor had to sit us down one day and talk to us about finishing. From this story comes the lesson, “Finish What You Start”.
We are definitely inspired by the message. We know that God is the Author and the Finisher of our Faith. Anointed Praise Dance Ministry, He that began a good work in you will carry it out to completion, you all are Praise Dancer’s Who ROCK!
